On May 14, 2005, the Shennongjia Protection Zone Management Bureau established a field research team for the golden snub-nosed monkey, mainly conducting dynamic monitoring of the Shennongjia golden snub-nosed monkey. In the winter of 2005, artificial feeding experiments for the golden snub-nosed monkey were implemented and achieved success. Currently, the world's first field research base for the golden snub-nosed monkey has been established, with an artificially fed population of 105 individuals and 43 juvenile monkeys bred. On February 23, 2012, the National Forestry Administration awarded the Dalongtan Golden Snub-nosed Monkey Field Research Base the title of "National Forestry Administration (Shennongjia) Golden Snub-nosed Monkey Research Base," making it the second wildlife research base awarded by the National Forestry Administration after the Sichuan Giant Panda Research Base.
