Wuhan Sports University, abbreviated as "Wu Ti", is located in Wuhan City, Hubei Province. It is a full-time ordinary higher education institution co-built by the General Administration of Sport of China and the People's Government of Hubei Province, primarily managed by Hubei Province, and is one of the first batch of "Double First-Class" construction universities in Hubei Province.
Wuhan Sports University was originally named South Central Sports College. It is one of the first full-time ordinary higher education sports institutions independently established in the People's Republic of China. It was founded in 1953 in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, moved to Wuhan City, Hubei Province in 1955, and was renamed Wuhan Sports University in 1956. It is directly under the General Administration of Sport of China and was co-built by the General Administration of Sport of China and the People's Government of Hubei Province in 2001.

As of December 2021, the school covers an area of 1820.6 acres, divided into East Lake (Zhuodaoquan) Campus, Canglong Island Campus, Wudang Mountain Campus, and East Lake High-tech Zone (Baoxie) Campus. It has 16 teaching units and offers 25 undergraduate majors. It has one doctoral degree first-level discipline granting point, six master's degree first-level discipline granting points, and four master's professional degree granting points. Among full-time teachers and coaches, 55% hold senior professional titles. There are more than 13,700 full-time students (over 11,600 undergraduates, more than 2,100 master's and doctoral students, and 38 international students).
