The predecessor of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University can be traced back to the outpatient department established in 1961 at Zhejiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 2003, it was merged with the original Acupuncture and Tuina Department of Zhejiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine to establish the Affiliated Acupuncture and Tuina Hospital of Zhejiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 2006, it was upgraded and renamed the Third Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University. At the end of 2008, it merged and reorganized with the Zhejiang Provincial Postal and Telecommunications Workers' Hospital to form the new Third Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, also known as Zhejiang Zhongshan Hospital. After more than half a century of development, the hospital has now become a national tertiary first-class traditional Chinese medicine hospital that integrates medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, health care, and rehabilitation, with distinct specialties in acupuncture, tuina, bone injury, and rehabilitation.
